Most of the OBIEE related people know how to deploy the new catalog from one system to another or we can called from development to test environment
After migration of catalog from development to test, the issue will arises we can call these issue as formatting or quality and then the issue will get resolve in development environment.
If the issue are only related to the particular Dashboard or folder then after issue gets resolved. The administrator needs to migrate the changes from development to test environment to get sign off on the issue. In such situation no need to migrate the entire catalog to test system, just migrate the particular Folder or Dashboard to test environment
1) Log in to the catalog manager
Start-> All Programs-> oracle Business Intelligence -> catalog manager
2) Open the catalog from which the folder is migrating( development catalog)
3) Select the folder want to migrate
4) Click on File->Archive
5) The new window will pop up: Select the Path to save the folder or Dashboard. The file save with .RTF
6) Copy the .RTF file to test server
7) Log in to the Test catalog in online or offline mode
8) Select folder under which does you want to migrate the folder, for example if you want to migrate folder at share location then select share location folder.
9) Delete the folder if it is already present or you can overwrite it with new one.
10) Click on File-> Unarchive.
11) The new window will pop up, select the archive file location and click OK.
12) Now you can view the folder or Dashboard with expected changes are now in test environment for further quality assurance.
Hi Rhishikesh,
ReplyDeleteMy scenario is that I need to copy the dashboard from one path on Server A to another path on Server B. Though I copy in the way you have specified, when I run the dashboard on B, I get the error -
Path not found (/shared/Sample Lite/Rep_for_DB/YEAR_PROMPT)
Error Details
Error Codes: U9KP7Q94
Please advice.
Regards,
HPR
Hi HPR
DeleteFirst check the xml content are there for YEAR_PROMPT from catalog Manager. According to me, you lost the XML while doing migration.
If this error just with one prompt, copy only the XML from sever A and past it on server B with the help of catalog manager.
Rhishikesh.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have a similar issue as HPR. I am using OBIEE 11.1.1.7
I log into catalog manager as user 'user1' and archive the folder that i want on server A. Then I open the catalog of
server B as 'user B'(since only user B has access to that catalog)and unarchive the folder that i had archived.
I get the error "invalid navigation target path /users/user A/form status"
If i am migrating a folder or dashboard, do i need to login as the same user in this case as 'user A' while archiving and unarchiving
Hi,
ReplyDeleteI have a similar issue. is there any solution for this?
